The Art Of Public Speaking : Become An Exceptional Orator
The Art Of Public Speaking
“The most common misconception about public speaking that people have is that one is either a born public speaker, or else he can never be a public speaker. I assure you that this workshop will prove you wrong. Anyone can be a good public speaker provided he masters the art,” said Amit Agrawal, a popular Public Speaker and Business Coach, during ‘The Art of Public Speaking’ workshop.
‘The Art of Public Speaking’
workshop was conducted by Amit Agrawal, Founder and Chairman, Times and Trends Academy (TTA) for students and aspirants who were interested in sharping their oratory skills. Mr. Amit is known in the industry for delivering seminars on Public Speaking and holds a good reputation for the same.
During the workshop, he said, “To be a good public speaker, you need to invest time in a lot of things. People are of that opinion that there are speakers who just go on the stage and do it naturally, without any effort. Yes, they might be able to do this effortlessly on stage because they have taken a lot of efforts before coming up on stage. Let me just be honest, I am able to pull off this workshop because I have put in hours for preparation for this workshop.”
The audience was engaged in the interaction as most of them got a chance to clear their queries. Akshay, a Fashion Designing student, Times and Trends Academy (TTA), asked, “What factors do you have to count in when you say public speaking requires preparation?” To this, Mr. Amit Agrawal replied, “When I say preparation, a lot of factors go into it, like the depth of subject matter, interests of the audience, banking on your strengths, etc. You need to understand your audience, and prepare accordingly. Plus, you cannot afford just to focus on weakness. Focus on your strength areas, and run the show.”
Amit gave many other important tips to the audience that would help them be better orators. He gave some really impressive examples of world class speakers. He said, “Look at Mr. Winston Churchill, probably one of the best public speaker in the history till date, was not a born speaker. Let me narrate his interesting story. As a young boy, Mr. Winston used to stammer a lot and had no stage presence. He was amazing with his words, but all that was in vain because he was not good at public speaking. Nevertheless, he understood one thing, that if he practised well, he could master the art of public speaking.”
“Critics had written him off, but he never stopped trying. He went on sharpen his skills and became one of the best orators in the world. People went crazy when Winston spoke, and there was no stopping. He went on to be the British Prime Minister. He is still known for his choice of words, delivery, preciseness and emotional touch that he brought to the speech. So, do you still believe you cannot master the art of public speaking?” The audience replied with a loud ‘no’ in unison.”
